Originally i fired previous pots in small pit fires. The fired tiles were then hooked over the horizontal roof battens. World touristar i built this hut in the bush using naturally occurring materials and primitive tools. In the tiled roof hut that i built based on your design i created a small furnace with a few clay tiles laid on top for cooking on.

But the kiln allowed me to fire larger pots with a lower breakage rate than pit fire. An underfloor heating system was built into one side of the hut to act as a sitting sleeping platform in cold weather. A trench was dug and covered with flat stones with a firebox at one end and a chimney at the other for draft. Earthenware may be placed on the tiles to cook.
