The pilot tube supplies gas to the pilot light for combustion.
Pilot light goes out in wall heater.
This is the pilot flame that provides the heat.
Thorough cleaning should do the trick.
Call a service technician to repair these problems.
In this hvac training video i show up close how the thermocouple pilot light and gas valve work on a water heater furnace fireplace as well as other ap.
Keep every intake air register in your home open and clear to avoid a vacuum effect in the inlet.
Another cause of a weak pilot is a faulty.
A leak in the output duct of the furnace could cause air to blow into the area.
If your pilot light re lights easily after going out overnight it s possible it was blown out by a draft.
Pilot goes out the heater won t operate properly if the pilot flickers is too weak or goes out and the cause could also be blockages in the pilot tube.
So what s the problem.
We know those issues are pretty vague.
You can fix this easily by moving the thermocouple closer to the flame.
The flame will go out if the tube is clogged with dirt or debris.
Well if your gas furnace pilot light won t stay lit it s usually due to 1 of these 4 issues.
Sometimes the tube might be partially clogged and supplying very little gas for combustion no wonder your pilot light keeps going out.
If this pilot light ever goes out the heater has no way of actually turning on to heat the water or air that your particular type of heater circulates to warm the house or other elements.
Sometimes pilot lights go out because the flame is set too low.
Other problems like low gas pressure a loose or faulty thermocouple or a gas control valve that s not working right can also cause the pilot light to keep going out.
The number one reason why the pilot light keeps going out is the thermocouple either the thermocouple is going bad or it is dirty and needs to be cleaned.
If the thermocouple is too far from the flame this can cause the pilot to go out and shut down the propane heater.
This can happen on excessively windy days or nights.
The initial flame of the pilot heats the thermocouple which will signal the valve to stay open and keep the pilot lit and the propane heater functioning.
